About Luke Thompson

Hello, my name is Luke Thompson and I am excited to be entering my fourth year as the Secondary Social Sciences teacher here at Palmer. I have had a wonderful first few years here and I look forward to continuing working in such a great community. I am also pleased to be continuing my work as the assistant Football Coach.

I was born and raised in Wolbach, graduating high school from Wolbach in 1999. After graduation, I spent 5 years in the United States Navy, spending time in Great Lakes, IL., San Diego, CA., and Dahlgren, VA,, before being stationed at my homeport of Pascagoula, MS., onboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga (CG 47). I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the spring of 2009. This is my 9th year as a classroom teacher spending previous years teaching at Elba Public Schools and Cedar Rapids Public Schools.

My wife Brenda, who is the 4th Grade teacher, and I have been married for four years. We welcomed our first child, a daughter, Layla Sue Thompson, into our lives on December 14, 2015, and our second daughter Jaylynn Elaine on March 14, 2017. It has been a whirlwind the last couple of years, but we are so very blessed to have both of them in our family. We also have a Bassett Hound named Izzy. She is quite the handfull, but she is always ready to cuddle or play.

My parents Jay and Dodie live in Wolbach and run, along with my father’s sisters, Tommy-Rene Printers in St. Paul. I have an older sister, Meagan, who is married to Brian Wysocki and they live in Elba. They have two daughters, Addison (7) and Macy (4), whom I love spending time with. I also have a younger brother, Ashton, who lives on the Pine Creek Indian Reservation near Battle Creek, Michigan.

Once again, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work in Palmer and look forward to continuing my involvement in the Palmer community.
